A Day in London: Travel Photographer of the Year Exhibition

A couple of weekends back - you know that miserable wet Bank Holiday weekend - Tom and I decided to make the most of it and venture out to see the Travel Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Royal Geographical Centre in South Kensington, just before it closed. As keen photographers ourselves, there's nothing better to do than to find inspiration in others' work on a rainy day.

It was a truly inspiring exhibition that reminded me what cameras can actually capture. It reminded me how powerful a single image could be, how powerful a portrait could be and how a single shot might not be in the most obvious of places. Check behind you, or look up, find angles and find things others won't typically see.

It's definitely encouraged me to pick up my camera more and I've now got a few ideas up my sleeve. You can still see all the amazing photos here!

Whilst in the area we grabbed a coffee in Fernandez & Wells and lunch at Tombo Café. The Japanese café seemed very authentic and even though the little cafe was full, there was a calm atmosphere. We shared a pot of Sencha tea, Tom got the chicken katsu curry while I got a miso soup with a salmon temaki hand roll and prawn tempura maki sushi roll.

It was absolutely delicious and I'd highly recommend. I just wish I had room for a matcha dessert!
