Where to Eat: Soho Kitchen and Bar x Little Bao

20 Sep 2015

As soon as I saw Clerkenwellboyec1's Instagram of the baos from Little Bao, I made it my mission to head to their pop up at Soho Kitchen and Bar. Popping up in London for just one week, I was so glad to grab a couple of baos for lunch on the very last day. Talk about cutting it fine!

Based in Hong Kong, Little Bao is all about sharing. It is suggested to get a couple of sharing plates then a Bao per person. So we went for the K-Wings - crispy, juicy chicken wings smothered in a fermented beancurd, gochujang glaze. Finger licking saucy chicken wings with a spicy kick.

Then onto the main event: The Baos! We chose the pork belly and the Sichuan fried chicken bao. We halved them both so got a bite of each one, filling us up but leaving room for dessert! The pork belly was my favourite; sweet from the hoi sin ketchup with the pork melting in your mouth. While the chicken was succulent with a kick from the Chinese black vinegar glaze. Both were sandwiched between two pillowy soft buns.

It was actually the dessert options that drove me here and there was absolutely no way I was leaving without having one! Green Tea ice cream with condensed milk sandwiched between two fried baos - I was in heaven. I'm a big fan of green tea so I had no doubt in this dessert. It is much smaller than the main baos but it was a great little size to finish off the meal - I don't think I could have fit in much more to be honest!

Please come back to London soon Little Bao!
