The Essie Effect | Favourites

29 Nov 2015

We all know the power of word of mouth. If a friend recommends a product, we're more than likely going to buy it. And if a product is mentioned in a monthly favourite, I can be swayed.
I've been subscribed to Estée Lalonde on Youtube for a while now. (If you haven't heard of Estée Lalonde, um where have you been?! Check out her videos here and her beautiful blog over here.)

When I'm looking for a product for my dry skin or need a product for my brows, I turn to Estée. If it's been highly praised in her monthly favourites or used up in one of her empties, I'll be heading straight to Boots to pick it up and none of them have let me down - seriously. And when she launches products with The Body Shop, well that's just a given! (Stay till the end for that)

This is what some might call the #EssieEffect, but honestly, I feel that Estée's reviews on products are pretty much spot on. (Obviously, I choose other colours to suit my own skin tone or other scents that I personally like.)

Smells amazing, light on the hair with great hold, especially as my hair doesn't usually hold a curl but with this it does.

I use this as a body moisturiser and I love that it's light yet so hydrating. Nothing worse than a heavy body cream that you have to wait to sink in before getting dressed.

bareMinerals Complexion RescueA tinted hydrating gel cream - basically a tinted moisturiser - lovely for Summer or days where I just need a little coverage on the skin.

Maybelline Eraser Eye ConcealerCreamy concealer I use under my eyes plus on any redness I might have.

Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer (Excuse the packaging on mine!)
I can really notice a difference with this lash primer, it thickens and lengthens my lashes and I'll only need one coat of mascara.

After stepping into the beautiful store and smelling every scent I decided on English Pear and Freesia. I love the fresh scent with the hint of sweetness.

This was at the very top of my list when I visited New York and I absolutely had to get a shade of red. (This one is Ignite) The formula makes it very easy to apply and after a couple of coats, it's vibrant and lasts for days.

A featured product in a few of Estée's videos and I truly put my trust in her hands and purchased this on She was spot on, it's such a beautiful champagne colour with a good amount of shimmer.

A warm colour with a matte finish, it's the perfect bronzer for giving me that little colour I need for a summery glow.

Also highly praised by HeyClaire, this powder is weightless, translucent and gives me that final matte finish that I need.

The formula of these four lip products are truly brilliant. I chose shades that suited my skin tone and shades that I love - deep reds and purples. I find the Revlon Colour Burst and the Fresh Sugar are perfect for everyday and buildable for the evening. The Nars and Charlotte Tilbury are deep colours that lasts all night and my absolute go to for a night out.

I've heard a few bloggers talk about the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate but Estée gave me that final push (thank you for introducing me to Kiehl's!) This is one product I cannot live without, it's one of my holy grails and I use it every night. I love the scent of lavender and even though it is an oil, it doesn't feel oily on the skin. Plus, it's the only product I need on my skin before bed. No more thick night creams for me!

I use the masks occasionally, when I feel my skin needs them. The Origins Charcoal Mask is great for purifying and I love using the Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask afterwards - it's the perfect companion. Please excuse the Glam Glow packaging! This miniature was a great way of trying it out before I purchase the full size and I definitely will be. You can really see the results in the morning and the scent is absolutely delicious!

When Estée announced her Nail Art Kit with The Body Shop, it was hot on my to-buy list! With three beautiful Colour Crush colours and a Nail Art Pen what's not to love? (Also picked up a copy of InStyle magazine with the amazing Rankin photos for Project 13!)
Each purchase of the kit equals a donation to WaterAid and each nail art design uploaded to Instagram will do the same. As I was lucky enough to win the Nail Art Kit with The Body Shop, I donated to WaterAid here where each donation made between 10 November to 10 February will be doubled. (Feel free to donate too, if you're feeling generous!) plus I'll be uploading my nail art below to my Instagram here!

I really suck at nail art so I stuck to the simple Dotticure. A subtle design with a touch of colour against the grey, which I really love!
Thanks Estée for your recommendations! I've tried and wasted so many products that have let me down or I haven't enjoyed using so it's refreshing to buy products and have some sort of idea of what they're going to be like. Have you tried any products I've mentioned?
