Adele Live in London

20 Mar 2016

I hadn't planned on writing a blogpost on seeing Adele at The O2, but it's been a few days after that night and I'm still not over it. I still cannot believe that I can say I’ve seen Adele perform live! She sounds just like she does on her albums, but with a few extras and a beautiful husky touch every now and again. She really engages with the audience, she’s absolutely hilarious and she puts on a bloody good show!

With no support act, Adele rose up on the B stage to ‘Hello’ and before she had even finished the first verse, I had already welled up. There was no doubt I was going to cry, not because her songs are emotional, but because of the time I listened to 21. It was an album I really related to. It came out at a time where I needed an album like that - songs that were there when you felt like a crapbag and songs that picked you back up. I suddenly felt really thankful to Adele, as in ‘thank you for your album’ (as lame as that probably sounds!) and I had a heart full of emotion that night.

She played tracks from all three of her albums. (Warning, spoiler alert!) From Hometown Glory and Chasing Pavements, Rumour Has It and Set Fire To The Rain (whilst surrounded by pouring rain - it was stunning) to the more recent material like When We Were Young, Water Under The Bridge and Million Years Ago. Obviously, she did tracks like Hello, Someone Like You, Make You Feel My Love and Rolling In The Deep too but I’m sure you got the jist.

This post does not even begin to describe how incredible that night was. I’ve seen a few of my favourite artists perform live and I’ve loved them all but there was something different about this evening with Adele and I honestly can’t put my finger on it.

Thank you Adele.
