What Happened In May?

13 Jun 2016

Hi, remember me? As it's now June and I've realised that I've unintentionally been MIA over May whoops! I thought I'd do a little life update and round up what happened in May (Because I'm not even sure myself! Where has the time gone?)

With two bank holidays and longer days, May has certainly been a busy month for me. Aside from watching Game of Thrones religiously on a Monday night, I've also caught up with a few friends, attempted some new recipes and attended my very first Christening.

I watched Captain America: Civil War and enjoyed Inception for the first time - yep I'm so late - at a Rooftop Cinema. If you haven't watched a film under the stars yet, I'd definitely add it to the list of things to do this summer.

As I mentioned before, I caught up with a few friends this month. This might not seem like such a big deal, but it is to me. We're all so busy with life, work and relationships nowadays that we don't talk everyday like we used back in the day of sixth form and uni. Yes, there's the occasional whatsapp now and then but there is nothing better, I feel, than sitting down and catching up over dinner or drinks.

I started getting back into exercising in May too (though I must admit I have fallen off the wagon recently) Along with my weekly hot yoga class at 121 Urban Hot Yoga, I purchased Joe Wicks' Lean In 15 book and started following his HIIT workouts on youtube. I've even pre-ordered book 2! The workouts make you sweat buckets and it's all over in 30 minutes - perfect for busy bees. I also tried a new class at 121 Urban Hot Yoga called Bodylastics, an hour long class using resistance bands in a hot room. You can see what I mean in the video here. That class was tough, it broke my weak arms but I'm looking forward to going to another class.

Foodwise in May, I finally went to Sketch for afternoon tea and a couple of food markets too - Dalston Yard and Broadway Market. Dalston Yard finally reopened recently and I couldn't wait to go back! I had a Bleeker Street cheeseburger, Mother Clucker chicken strips, Japanese fried chicken Yum Bun and a refreshing virgin mojito - so delicious and I left feeling so full.

I actually went to Broadway Market twice in May, both for the same reason; those soup dumplings. We missed out the first time because they sold out so we went back the following week with more determination. And I finally got them!
